14th August Merchandise
Hundreds of vendors set up stalls, selling special merchandise to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. Every street and corner has stalls for these items- everywhere you go it seeps of the green independence spirit. There are stalls of all sizes decorated with variably-sized national flags; badges, green and white coloured bangles; and of course, flag-painted tees which attract customers of all ages.

Festive Lights
Don’t forget to decorate your home with pretty festive lights and flags. Hoist the National Flag on top of your roof. Motivate the young ones to decorate your homes in flags, banners, balloons, stars, badges, door hangers, candles and all colours reviving independence. While some opt for green and gold themed lights for true Independence Day spirit, we will be decorating our home with pretty fairy lights and a huge flag of Pakistan. This will give us and our homes a feeling of patriotism and help the younger ones value the spirit of this day.

Dinner
First things first, a delicious meal with our friends and family at our favourite cafe/ restaurant is mandatory. We’ll be heading to Xander’s or Thyme to store up on all the energy for a long, fun-filled night ahead.

Chai & Fireworks
What is Indepedence day celebration without fireworks? Non-existent! Get the real feel of Indepedence Day as you enjoy the true spirit of patriotism with loud patriotic songs and Pakistan Zindabad chants blaring from left, right and centre. At mid-night just when the clock is about to strike 12 we will be heading to the famous Icon Towers to witness the grand fireworks to celebrate Pakistan’s 73rd Independence Day and later head to Chotu Chaiwala for a hot cup of chai and some board games.

Parade and Sightseeing
Hop in your car with your friends and family to enjoy different sightseeing. Our first stop will be Mazaar-e-Quaid to experience the annual parade! Despite our struggles with a constantly interrupted power supply, we sure know how to light up our country for Independence Day celebrations. Our courts, assemblies and even apartment complexes are beautifully wrapped with green and white bulbs, bringing Christmas to Pakistan a few months early. A ride around the city in a crammed car with friends and family on the eve of Independence Day is must for a patriot; with mili naghmas blaring from the car speakers and everyone enjoying themselves, it is a sight to cherish.

Breakfast
Breakfast at Boat Basin has always been a popular choice especially on Independence Day. Amidst those sights and sounds; seeing people sporting green and white traditional wear and flags and badges of their beloved nation, with speakers blaring national songs – brings a profound sense of comfort in all this. Order some desi omelette and paratha with a cup of karak chai while you chat away with your friends and family. While making all these memories don’t forget to take pictures!

Eid Soirees
While Independence Day celebrations will be in full swing, we cannot disappoint our relatives, so it is mandatory to dress up and show up to family Eid gatherings and feast on scrumptious meaty dishes.

Bar B Q
Eidul Azha is incomplete without a Bar B Q with friends and family! Gear up to get your hands dirty while you cook some meat and later enjoy the feast while listening to songs and playing some quizzes about Pakistan’s history to keep the Independence Day spirit alive!
