He informed that Chontra Police on the directives of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO), launched a search operation in Rajar area and arrested seven suspects including Abdul Waqas, Malik Imran, Umar Ijaz, Ghulam Hussain, Khurram Saddar, Qais Ahmed and Mohsin Shafi and recovered five Kalashnikovs, two M-16 rifles, a 7mm rifle, a 12 bore rifle and 129 rounds.
Robber shot dead by accomplice
The SP apprised that Saddar Circle registered 57 first information reports (FIRs) against the suspects in its ongoing operation against illegal weapons. He said that the police recovered 17 Kalashnikovs, seven rifles, two 12 bore rifles, 24 pistols and 1,352 rounds from booked suspects.
He said that the police was conducting operations against law violators on a regular basis on directions from the CPO without any discrimination.
He expressed that the police would continue its operations against criminals and proclaimed offenders and they would be sent behind bars.
Increase in crime
A recent rise in incidents of robberies and street crimes has been witnessed ahead of Eidul Azha owing to which a wave of threat and concern is prevailing amongst the citizens.
Yesterday at Khawaja Corporation Chowk on Adyala Road, two armed motorcyclists snatched Rs0.4 million from Muhammad Yousuf, who had withdrawn it recently from a bank, and fled. Showing a lethargic attitude, Morgah Police reached the site of the incident after a long period even though a timely complaint was made. However, the police have started investigation of the case.
