Japanese experts provide help

A team of Japanese experts have supported 52 local auto parts manufacturers in enhancing quality of their products

LAHORE: A team of five Japanese experts, in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda), have supported 52 local auto parts manufacturers in enhancing quality and productivity of their products as per requirements of both domestic and export markets, said Smeda Central Support General Manager Fuad Hashim Rabbani. He was speaking at the closing ceremony of a technical support programme of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) for the local auto parts manufacturing industry. Speaking on the occasion, Smeda Business and Sector Development Services General Manager Ashfaq Ahmed highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by Smeda to improve productivity, quality and energy efficiency of small and medium enterprises. He informed the audience that a large number of auto parts manufacturers were nominated by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (Paapam) and original equipment manufacturers, which indicated the importance of this project for the auto parts manufacturing industry. He pointed out that during the project tenure of four years, 52 target suppliers were facilitated in Sindh and Punjab.
