Met office issues flood warnings in Sindh

Also predicts heavy showers in Karachi till Wednesday

KARACHI: In light of the forecast of heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and windstorm in Karachi expected today (Monday), the Met office has issued an alert of urban flooding in the metropolis, as well as in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Thatta. According to the Met office, there is risk of urban flooding in these cities on Monday and Tuesday.

The Met office has also predicted that heavy showers will continue to drench Karachi till Wednesday and the city will experience up to 80mm of rainfall.

Moderate rainfall turns weather pleasant in Karachi

A low-pressure system of monsoon winds, formed in the Bay of Bengal, has entered the country via Rajasthan, India, which will cause heavy rainfall in different districts of rural Sindh including Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Thatta and Shaheed Benazirabad. Strong winds will also be experienced in these areas.

The Met department has advised all relevant institutions to take precautionary measures and make necessary security arrangements to deal with any untoward situation.
