Bollywood stars Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora confirmed their relationship on June 26 this year, when the latter penned a heartfelt note for the Ki & Ka star on his 34th birthday.

While the two have been going strong since, many wondered how Arjun’s family would react to him dating someone 11 years older. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the time he told the Kapoor clan about his ladylove, stating they were rather pleased by the news.

Revealing his family has always been supportive of his life decisions, Arjun said, “They are happy. That's the reason I have been able to come out. There is genuine happiness for me. I have been through hell. I have been through a roller-coaster from the age of 10 till now. My parents got separated when I was around 11 years old.”

He continued, “Today I have some stability in my life and if someone gives me happiness, my family won't be against it. I am genuinely happy. That is why a Fridayat the box office doesn't decide my life. Three years back, I had have been like, I am dying! What's going to happen? But today, I am relaxed.”

Arjun disclosed what helped him and Malaika to not be afraid of making their relationship public. “We've come out because we feel the media has given us dignity. There's a certain understanding the media has. It has been respectful, kind, honest and decent about it.That is why we felt comfortable. You recoil when there's a certain gandhagi (dirt) that comes with the territory and when people purposely irk you by saying, writing or asking things. There hasn't been any of that,” he said.

Arjun confessed to sending the paparazzi pictures of him and Malaika every now and then. “We give them photos when walking in and out of a place. It is normal. Wetalk to them. There's a certain ease. I told them not to sit outside the house becausethen it looks like we're hiding when we're not. Let it be natural. Let it be normal,” he concluded.
