LAHORE: A PML-N lawmaker has demanded the resignation of the NAB chairman for allegedly making her party’s leaders the subject of political victimisation. Meanwhile, another PML-N MPA demanded that the Punjab Assembly speaker issue production orders for those arrested by NAB in different cases.

These demands were put forward made by MPAs Hina Pervez Butt and Azma Zahid Bukhari, respectively, through resolutions submitted at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat.

Hina Pervez Butt, in her resolution, strongly condemned the conduct of NAB, saying the cases created by the bureau were confined to allegations and were deprived of substantial evidence. Hina said NAB's actions were a violation of the Constitution and tantamount to disrespecting the public vote.

The MPA expressed her gloom over PML-N leaders being turned into victims of political victimisation. She urged NAB to refrain from such practices and asked that the bureau’s chairman, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, resign from his post.

She further demanded that three-time prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Assembly Opposition leader Mian Hamza Shehbaz Sharif be released from custody, along with other PML-N leaders.

On the other hand, MPA Azma Zahid Bukhari expressed her regret over the fact that production orders were not being issued for Punjab Assembly MPAs on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan. She contended the PM was turning institutions into controversial entities to service his own ego and take out personal grudges.
