Minister calls for rural housing scheme 

He directs task force to prepare a practical financial model for the construction of the low-cost houses

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed directed officials to launch the Rural Housing Pilot Project on an emergency basis. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Housing Task Force. Addressing the meeting, the minister said that 50 houses will be given to homeless people on easy installments from selected villages in every district of the province. He directed the task force to prepare a practical financial model for the construction of the low-cost houses. He directed that a committee should be constituted and should submit a report regarding establishing new cities in the province as soon as possible. He said that establishing new cities will reduce the population strain and traffic in existing cities, which is of utmost importance. Housing Secretary Nasim Sadiq informed the meeting about the selection of suitable places for Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
