RAWALPINDI:
The City Traffic Police (CTP) has back-offed from the “helmet-wearing” campaign and seemingly has stopped taking action against helmetless bikers.

The police have not been seen issuing tickets to violators. Therefore several bikers can now be seen all over the city without helmets.

Furthermore, during the campaign, the traffic magistrates had abolished warning-challans, i.e. the bikers were not given a second chance to wear a helmet next time, and they were instead fined the moment they were caught by the police.

The police action in the recent past had shown tremendous results as almost all bikers were seen with a helmet to avoid fines.

The traffic wardens performing duties on different roads endorsed that campaign had ended unannounced. They said that only a few tickets were issued on helmet violations last month.
