ASEAN completes seven decades of existence

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has developed mechanisms for resolutions of the conflicts amongst countries and built a relationship through understanding in contrast with economic, socio-cultural and political growth.

This was said by Philippines Ambassador Daniel Ramos Espiritu was speaking on "Community Building in ASEAN" organised by Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with Commission in Science and Technology in the Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) at COMSATS Headquarters in Islamabad today.

Ambassador Espiritu further highlighted the pillars on which strong building of ASEAN rests especially the values and norms set forth by the historical leaders of the countries falling in its region.

ASEAN has completed its seven decades of existence with providing assistance to all those countries and taking them along for a shared future.

ASEAN was inspired by other regional groupings of the world but it has its own pace of growth and set its course through consensus among its members. The huge single market and production base is the main objective of the ASEAN economic community.
