KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) heard on Thursday the bail plea of Zulfiqar Shalwani, co-accused with former MPA Sharjeel Inam Memon in a case pertaining to corruption in Sindh information department, and issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking response by August 7. The two-member bench comprising Justice M Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi heard the plea. The lawyer of the accused, Noor M Dawood, argued that Shalwani was the information secretary during Memon’s tenure. Recent findings show that the federal government had given ads at a high rate, said Dawood, adding that the documents regarding this were attached. He said that his client had been in prison for long and given that the bail for Memon has been approved, Shalwani also has right to bail. The court issued a notice to NAB seeking reply. According to NAB, the hearing for the reference against the accused is underway in an accountability court.
