Punjab govt committed to boost cotton production

Technical assistance and guidelines to be imparted to farmers

Director General (DG) Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides Zafar Yaab Haider has said that technical assistance and guidelines are being imparted to farmers with an objective to enhance cotton production, across the province. Speaking to farmers in Jampur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur on Saturday, he said that Punjab additional secretary for agriculture and other officials are visiting different areas to boost cotton crop.

“They were focusing on remedial steps and other problems of farmers.” He added that strict monitoring was being done to ensure sale of quality pesticides and fertilisers in the markets. He stressed farmers to eliminate weeds from cotton crops as early as possible for maximum output.


The DG further said that the government had offered subsidy on cotton seeds and fertilisers and that the offer would surely facilitate the farmers. He stated that PB Ropes were also given to farmers to control pink bollworms. He maintained that a balanced use of fertilisers was vital for enhanced production.
