Punjab University imbroglio
The governor addressed several problems starting with the issue of the students of Punjab University, who had stage a protest outside the governor house, as their degrees were not being recognized. Taseer said that he had arranged a meeting with HEC and representative of the university and the problem was resolved.
Qadiyani debate
Taseer also received a mail asking him if he was Qadiyani. He addressed the question by saying that he is a Sunni Muslim but at the same time a human being as well, and his visit to the injured of the Lahore attacks was for humanitarian reasons.
Punjab militants
Speaking on the law and order situation in Punjab, the governor said that terrorist elements such as the Lahkar-e-Jhangvi and the Sipah Sahaba are present in Punjab. He said that there should be a zero tolerance policy towards such “hate filled” organizations.
Taseer also criticized the Punjab law minister for having relations with members of banned organizations as well as the chief minister for saying that PML-N shared the same thought as the Taliban. He also termed the CM’s actions as cowardice.
Taseer talked about ‘the glorious days’ of Muslim history, saying that such societies were tolerant and are the complete opposite of the sort of society the Taliban are aiming for.
On power
Talking about the concept of ‘power,’ Taseer said that power is not on paper but is based on the morals of a person. In this regard, he termed Benazir Bhutto as the most powerful politician of Pakistan, even now.
Taseer ended his podcast saying that he would continue to address the people’s problems as they come in via email.
