Two policemen were martyred on Monday after unidentified assailants shot at them in the Orangi Town area of Karachi, Express News reported.

The assailants, riding a motorcycle, managed to flee from the area after the incident. A large contingent of law enforcers reached the spot and started the preliminary investigation.

The bodies of the martyred policemen were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Karachi's police chief took notice of the incident and sought a report from SSP West.

“Both the police personnel were targeted when they were heading for their duty in Orangi Town in the morning,” said SSP West.

Police also recovered four bullet casings of a 9mm pistol from the crime scene.

Earlier in March 2019 also, a policeman was martyred by unidentified assailants in Orangi Town.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rizwan Iqbal, who was deployed at Iqbal Market Police Station, had stopped at a meat shop in Orangi Town 13 near Subhani Mosque when the gunmen opened fire, killing him on the spot.
