Film-maker Karan Johar is now stepping into the genre of horror after treating cinema lovers with romantic films. The ace director on Friday took to Twitter to announce that his Dharma Productions is now "anchoring" a horror film.

He shared a poster which read, "Dharma Productions is anchoring a new franchise of fear. November 15, 2019." Karan captioned the poster, "Film announcement on Monday! Stay tuned! Apoorva Mehta 18, Shashank Khaitan Dharma Movies." Other details related to the project are still under wraps.

Last year, Karan decided to try his hand at a period drama titled Takht.  The film features a star-studded cast comprising Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal. According to some, the film will be like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic dramas Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.

“It’s based in the Mughal era. It’s history. It’s about two warring brothers and based on facts as we know them. Beyond that, it’s too early to say anything,” said Karan previously, promising to make Takht his most ambitious project till date.

Karan's Dharma Production is known for producing films such as My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, The Lunchbox, Dear Zindagi, Raazi and Kalank among others. He currently awaits the release of the fantasy adventure Brahmastra starring Alia, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan.
