Five of a family among 14 killed in road crash

A speedy van carrying passengers hit the truck coming from opposite direction near Qila Saifullah

QUETTA: At least 14 people including five members of a family died in a road accident that took place in the early hours of Monday when a passenger van collided with a truck near Ali Khail, some 35km from Qila Saifullah district.

According to Levies Force, a speedy van carrying passengers hit the truck coming from the opposite direction.

“At least 14 passengers including a woman and children have been killed and 12 injured in a fatal road accident that occurred at Mir Ali Khail near district Qila Saifullah,” Levies Force said adding that “one injured succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital”.

The deceased include five members of a family who were going to their native town to celebrate Eidul Fitr with their relatives.

District administration along with Levies Force rushed to the spot to evacuate the bodies and shift injured to the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Qilla Saifulah declared emergency at the District Headquarters Hospital.

The van had been totally wrecked in the collision due to which rescue workers faced difficulty retrieving the bodies.

However, later, the injured were shifted to Quetta Civil Hospital’s Trauma Center.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani expressed grief over the incident and condoled with the bereaved families.

He directed secretary health to ensure provision of timely treatment to the injured.

Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail expressed sympathies with those who lost their loved ones, saying that the provincial government stood with them in this time of difficulty.

MNA Maulana Abdul Wasay and provincial minister Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai also mourned the loss of lives.
