Hyderabad DC seeks LEAs’ help to mitigate refusal cases

HYDERABAD: In the wake of an increasing number of refusal cases and presence of the polio virus in Hyderabad’s drainage, the health and law enforcement officials have been asked to fasten on to the two challenges in the upcoming campaign. The Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Aijaz Shah in a meeting on Wednesday, held to review arrangements for the three-day drive starting June 17, asked the police and Rangers to provide security to the polio teams and to assist them in handling the refusal cases as well.

“All the lined departments ought to work with determination and the poliovirus, which is continuously being found in the drainage, has to be done away with,” he stressed. The National Institute of Health has found the presence of the virus in the district’s sewage for five consecutive months since January.
