Deputy Superintendent of Police Swabi, Khalid Khan along with other police officials visited various Masajids across Swabi District and requested the Ulemas to give awareness to people regarding menace of aerial firing and its consequence.
The Police official expressed resolve to stop aerial firing on the eve of Eidul Fitr by sensitising people through poster against the risks aerial firing as part of celebrations and asked Ulemas to give awareness to the people to stop this danger practice which poses serious threat to precious human lives.
The police urged Imams to sensitize the masses about the evil practice and its adverse effects including loss of precious lives due to this evil practice.
Besides visiting mosques, K-P Police also launched an awareness campaign that included displaying of banners at various public places and posters on vehicles, meeting with community elders and making announcements from local radio stations.
Police officer warned the public about the repercussions of violating the law, saying last year, three people were killed and 48 injured in various incidents of aerial firing across K-P and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Eid ul Fitr.
"The friendly attitude indicates our success, and we will witness a great decrease in aerial firing in the area, DSP Khalid Khan said and hoped people would avoid this in the forthcoming festival.
