SPI falls 0.32%

The SPI for the lowest income group decreased 0.33% compared to the previous week

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended May 16, 2019 registered a decrease of 0.32% for the combined income group, going down from 254.38 points in the prior week to 253.56 in the week under review. However, the SPI for the combined income group surged 11.92% compared to the corresponding week of previous year. The SPI for the lowest income group decreased 0.33% compared to the previous week. The index for the group stood at 232.43 points against 233.19 points in the previous week, according to provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). During the week, average prices of 19 items rose in a selected basket of goods, prices of seven items fell and rates of remaining 27 goods recorded no change.
