Many expected Apple to have rolled out 5G slower than its competitor Android, the new report suggests that due to the complication relationship with Intel and Qualcomm, Apple may not be able to release the 5G for its iPhones until 2025.

At one point Intel was Apple’s only partner but the chipmaker has struggled to develop its technology for Apple. While at this time Apple and Qualcomm went into a lawsuit over the latter’s licencing fee which Apple believed was breaking the anti-trust laws. Eventually, the two giants settled and struck a new deal where Qualcomm was to provide Apple with 5G chips leading to a cut in ties with Intel completely. However, the new deal with Qualcomm restricts Apple from releasing a 5G-capable iPhone until 2020.

Tech giants bury the hatchet

Apple has shifted its engineers and developers to produce in-house parts for the devices in an attempt to reduce dependency on suppliers but this has proved to be more difficult than expected.
