MULTAN: Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Kaneez Fatima said that steps were being taken to control the open sale of acid and its easy availability.

During her visit at the Violence Against Women Centre (VAWC) on Wednesday, she said that strict action will be taken over acid throwing while section 144 will be imposed to control the use of black stone (phenylenediamine) in South Punjab.

The chairperson expressed, “There will be a ban on transportation, sale and storage of black stone.” She said that providing justice to everyone was the main objective of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and added that they believe in practical work instead of slogans.

She said that the women’s protection act will be implemented soon to resolve the problems of VAWC and added that district-level women protection officers will be deputed and toll free number will also be made functional. She said that VAWC website will be made to provide complete information to people about the centre while missing facilities will also be provided there.

She added, “The purpose of the centre was to provide all facilities to women under one roof and lady doctors will be deputed there soon.” VAWC Manager Sana Javed briefed the chairperson and said that they had resolved over 3,000 cases in two years.
