LRH lifts ban on surgeons

Ban had been placed following high mortality rate on operation table

PESHAWAR: The cardiology department of Lady Readying Hospital Medical Teaching Institute has become functional now and the cardiac surgeons have been allowed by the hospital’s administration to carry out the surgeries after a ban had been placed on them following high mortality rate on operation table.

LRH spokesperson Muhammad Asim said that Medical Director Dr Suleman Khan issued a notification allowing Dr Riaz Anwer, Dr Ajab Khan and Dr Nayyar Waseem to perform the surgeries. Meanwhile Dr Nayyar Waseem has agreed to go on a training course to further improve his skills.

However, he will work under supervision of senior surgeons, Asim added. LRH Medical Director Dr.Suleman Khan said that the department was thoroughly reviewed and the necessary equipment needed for surgeries have been provided as promised.
