Aligarh university’s oldest alumnus dies at 110

Nisar Ahmed Khan is survived by four daughters and three sons.

Nisar Ahmed Khan, Pakistan’s oldest alumnus from Aligarh University, passed away at the age of 110 years on June 24.


He is survived by four daughters and three sons. A condolence gathering was held in his honour by the Aligarh Old Boys Association. The president, Ziley Ahmed Nizami, prayed for him. Prominent Aligarh University graduates also attended the gathering. The deceased was born on September 29, 1901 and attended Aligarh University from 1923-1927.

He got his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the US. He was then made the director of Agriculture in India, during which time he lived in Rampur.

Aligarh Muslim University was founded by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in 1875. Its graduates include Liaquat Ali Khan, the first prime minister of Pakistan, Khwaja Nazimuddin, former prime minister of Pakistan, Naseeruddin Shah, the Indian actor and the late artist and calligrapher Gulgee.
