Crackdown on profiteers in Islamabad

Fines were imposed on 48 different vendors while seven were arrested as well

ISLAMABAD: The district administration has launched a crackdown on profiteers in the federal capital. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Saad Bin Asad, in which food inspectors raided various shops in Bara Kahu after receiving public complaints of overpricing. The teams imposed fines worth Rs75,000 on 48 different vendors while seven were arrested as well. Similarly, Magistrate Murtaza Chandio checked prices in the Kohsar Market and imposed fines worth Rs40,000 and sealed a milk shop for selling milk above the fixed prices. AC Dr Waqar, imposed fines worth a hundred thousand rupees on different vendors. Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat said that their price-checking campaign will continue through Ramazan and that no one will be allowed to loot the public.
