Intangible heritage: A depository of national values

Intangible heritage directly relates to the common person, who, unfortunately, does not know its importance.

ISLAMABAD:

Intangible heritage directly relates to the common person, who, unfortunately, does not know its importance. Those in the culture sector, therefore, need to highlight its significance so that Pakistan’s intangible heritage can be protected.

This was said during a training workshop on “Safeguarding Intangible Culture Heritage of Pakistan”, jointly organised by Pakistan National Council of the Arts and Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO at National Art Gallery here on Saturday. Pakistan has a tremendously rich culture and tradition.

The speakers linked the preservation of culture to economic development and said it was very important to safeguard both the tangible and intangible heritage of the region.
