He announced this during a meeting of the Senate Sub-Committee on Climate Change which met at COMSATS on Tuesday. Sayed, who chairs the subcommittee, said that they were launching the campaign to make Islamabad plastic-free to truly make it “Clean and Green”. Sayed also addressed students and the faculty of COMSATS as he sought their support for this cause.
He also announced that the sub-committee will seek to finalize a landfill site to dispose of the federal capital’s garbage and solid waste. Moreover, he said that they will be undertaking fields visits during the holy month of Ramazan to monitor the cleanliness of storm drains and other sites in Islamabad, especially those which had been encroached.

Senator Sayed said that climate change is amongst PM’ challenges which can only be met collectively and by rising above party lines.
IMC told to launch cleanliness drive
Meanwhile, the Climate Change Ministry directed the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) to kick-start a three-day massive cleanliness campaign across the federal capital under the Prime Minister's Clean Green Pakistan programme.
During the clean-up movement, encroachment in various business centres and markets of the city will also be removed, a statement said.
The Environment Wing has been tasked with looking after the cutting and grooming of plants, bushes and trees whereas the sanitation directorate will ensure cleanliness across the city.
