ZU confers degrees on 572 students

Senator Saleem Mandviwala was the chief guest at the event

KARACHI: Ziauddin University (ZU) conferred degrees on 572 students on Friday, at its 16th convocation ceremony.

Dr Zill-e-Rabab was awarded a PhD degree while nine students were awarded gold medals for outstanding performance. The gold medallists include Kashaf Aqeel Zaidi, Fatima Banday, Kiran Yameen, Sara Abbas Merchant, Mubeen Aslam, Mariam Younis, Hafiza Lareb Abdul Mulk, Sharmeen Patel and Mehak Altaf.

Senator Saleem Mandviwala, who was chief guest, congratulated the students and their parents and said that the graduating students would undoubtedly play a positive role in society. He said, "The only solution to our problems is higher education and no society can progress without it".

He added that many modern technologies exist today that one couldn't even imagine ten to twenty years ago. "This proves that if we want to achieve prosperity we have to walk along the time," he said adding that it is imperative for success that the learning process never stops.

ZU Chancellor Dr Asim Hussain said, "You have gained complete expertise in your fields and are prepared to serve the country". He shared that the varsity has introduced three new faculties, which include faculty of law, faculty of eastern medicine and natural sciences and faculty of liberal arts and human sciences.
