KARACHI: In a statement issued on Friday, Darul Sehat Hospital (DSH) urged the Sindh Healthcare Commission to reconsider its decision to seal the health facility.

The statement said the sealing orders came following charges of alleged non-compliance with the recommendations given in the SHCC's report in Nashwa's case.

DSH claimed that it had complied with the SHCC's recommendations and reported back to them within 24 hours of the report. The statement said SHCC was notified of the compliance via email and by post on April 25.

DUSH said it had 16 patients currently admitted, of whom five were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). "The hospital is not moving critical patients at this stage and will continue to provide treatment and quality care to all the patients," said DSH spokesperson.

He added that the hospital would continue to update the SHCC on a daily basis and welcomed additional advice from the SHCC which would be implemented as and when required.

The spokesperson said that the number of nursing staff which is in process of completing their diploma was 36, not 95 as stated in the report. He said that these employees were getting training at the hospital as part of their diploma requirements and were not involved in the direct care of patients.

The spokesperson added that the hospital already had a crash team for critical situations. "The crash team has been renamed 'Code Blue Team' as per SHCC's directives," he said.
