Liverpool manager Klopp talks about Mo Salah the 'Muslim'

German says Egyptian star if full of joy and love

One can always find Jurgen Klopp praising Mohamed Salah for his footballing skills, but in a recent interview the Liverpool manager opened up about how the Egyptian star is as a 'Muslim'.

Three Chelsea fans were stopped from entering Slavia Prague’s stadium for a Europa League game after an alleged Islamophobic chant about Salah recently after a video circulated on the media.

And Klopp is aware of the fact that these things can disturb a player, but the German says Salah, along with teammate Sadio Mane, live their Muslim life in peace.

“He’s [Salah] a role model in so many different things,” said Klopp according to Express“It’s really, really nice to have him, and Sadio Mane as well."

The Liverpool boss continued by highlighting how Muslims are discussed in the media. “Both are Muslims and live that, in a world where these things are very often discussed in a dangerous manner, where people think, ‘They are all like this’ or ‘They are all like that’."

However, Klopp believes Salah is not how they say Muslims are.

“We know that’s not true, but it is nice to have somebody around full of joy, full of love and to do what he is doing around his religion.”

Salah was recently features on the cover of Time magazine and was a part of their 100 most influential people of 2019 list.

The left-footed star however was shunned for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award, even after competing for the Premier League golden boot, tied on 19 goals with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
