Load-Shedding: 650MW shortage in Sukkur

16-hour load-shedding in rural areas and 12-hour power outages in the cities.

SUKKUR: The electricity shortage in Sukkur and adjoining areas has reached 650 megawatts, leading to rolling blackouts. The Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) has resorted to 16-hour load-shedding in rural areas and 12-hour power outages in the cities. According to Sepco spokesperson Muhammad Sadiq, the total electricity demand of this area is 1,650MW. The routine load-shedding takes place for six hours in the cities and 10 hours in the villages but sometimes additional load-shedding is carried out, he added.
