LAHORE:
As the backlog grows at a face pace at Karachi ports, the Ministry of Commerce has extended the deadline for SRO 237 to June 30, 2019.

Through the SRO, issued on February 19, 2019, the Ministry of Commerce had directed all fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) importers to follow new regulations, which sparked concern in the $2-billion import industry.

It directed that all FMCG importers, both domestic and multinational, should print ingredients and details of food products ie nutritional facts, usage instruction, logo of Halal certification body, etc in Urdu and English languages on consumer packaging.

Earlier, the SRO was implemented from its date of issuance, however, after a few days, the importers were allowed to clear all their consignments booked before February 19, 2019.
