If Sharifs weren't given 'NRO' there would be no money laundering: PM Imran
Imran Khan directs Fawad Chaudhry to share with public 'true faces of opposition leaders'
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday hit out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) saying that if the Sharif family had not been handed an easy way out in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) there would not have been any money laundering in the country.
The premier said this while having a detailed meeting on the country's overall political situation among other pressing issues with Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry at his official residence in Islamabad, Express News reported.
PM Imran lamented that if former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf had not given the Sharif family an NRO in the Hudaibiya case and a fair verdict was given then Pakistan would have been rid of the scourge of money laundering.
Imran unfazed by PPP threat of long march
He added that the NRO handed out to the Sharifs was then taken forward and used as a model to handle other political cases.
The premier said that Pakistan Peoples Party supremo Asif Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) bigwig Nawaz Sharif were given a clean chit to do as they please with impunity after that.
Chaudhry was tasked to share with the public the true faces of these opposition leaders.
Premier Imran also instructed the federal minister to highlight how policies of former governments had led to the current economic crisis.
