The Balochistan government has sent a summary to the federal government, suggesting 42 development schemes for the impoverished province in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2019-20.

After thorough consultations, the provincial cabinet decided to induct the development projects in the next year’s federal PSDP.

"A 60km Jhao-Bela road in Awaran district and two-way Sangsela-Dera Bugti and Sui-Kashmore highways have been demanded from the federal government," sources said, and added that a development package for Dera Bugti had also been included in the summary.

"Development of Kalmati Hor, a pipeline from Merani Dam to Gwadar, Hulk Dam in Sibi, Notal-Gandawa highway, Bolan Dam, construction of highway from Bibi Nani to Khaliqabad and a network of highways were also requested from the centre in the provincial PSDP share."

The cabinet also decided to build a 406-acre special economic zone under the federal PSDP, a dock in Chagai and a highway from the Pak-Iran border to Kachak and Pasht Koti.

Construction of 100 dams has also been planned to meet the water requirements in the province.

The sources said a new fishing jetty, smart environmental sanitation system and expansion of Gwadar hospital from 50 to 300 beds would also be requested from the federal government.
