LAHORE: Lawmakers of both the treasury and opposition benches paid tribute to the armed forces, terming them as the real heroes of the nation. They demanded a special session of the Punjab Assembly on the eve of March 23.

In their resolutions submitted in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Saturday, three MPAs, two from the opposition and one from the treasury – said the sacrifices of the armed forces could not be forgotten.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Hina Pervez Butt said in her resolution that those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation were the real heroes and could never be forgotten. She lauded not only the role of the armed forces, but also that of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif over his contribution to Pakistan.

She claimed it was Nawaz Sharif whose wisdom brought the country on the right track. She said the nation was united and ready to foil the nefarious designs of the enemies.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) MPA Seemabia Tahir paid tribute to the armed forces and to the leaders who had presented the Objective Resolution. She admired the armed forces for issuing its slogan “Pakistan Zindabad” as a promo.

Another resolution was submitted by PML-N’s Kanwal Liaquat who demanded the house to summon a special session of the Punjab Assembly on March 23 to celebrate the day with enthusiasm. She said the Objective Resolution of March 23 represents the true objectives of an Islamic state.
