Lahore–Abdul Hakeem Motorway to be opened on 30th

The minister announced that Faisalabad toll plaza would be eliminated from March 24

Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed has termed Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3), a model motorway that was going to be opened for traffic from March 30.

For the convenience of the people, Faisalabad toll plaza would be eliminated from March 24. He was presiding over a meeting held at Ministry of Communications on Saturday. Secretary Communications Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, National Highway Authority Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik, Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police AD Khawaja, representative of the Frontier Works Organisation and other senior officers from the ministry of communications.


The minister said a coordinated road network play a vital role in socio-economic uplift and that the Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority were completing ongoing motorways and highways schemes through available resources. He said Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3) was near completion and would be opened to traffic on March 30. On this motorway, he said, an intelligent transport system was installed due to which it could be termed a model motorway. He said concrete steps were being taken to modernise the motorways and highways network and installation of the intelligent transport system is a practical advancement to this effect.

He said the latest digital system was installed on M-3 which includes handling emergencies, controlling traffic accidents, lane marking, placement of LED screens, electronic toll collection, and installation of optic fiber cable, as well as maximum civic and travelling facilities, shall be ensured at service areas.
