Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood on Saturday visited the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Syed Moinuddin Hasan Chishti in Ajmer Sharif, where celebrations of his 807th annual Urs are currently under way.
The high commissioner offered fateha at the shrine and placed traditional chaddar on the grave on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan.
Upon his arrival, Sohail Mahmood was greeted by Syed Natiq Chishti, Syed Bilal Chishti and other notable members of the Anjuman Moinia Fakhria Chishtia Khuddam Sahib.

Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti, popularly known among his followers as Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz, is one of the most revered Sufi saints of the subcontinent. He is founder of the Chishtia order of Sufism in the region. On his Urs, devotees from across the world, including Pakistan, visit his shrine.
In his remarks, the high commissioner said Hazrat Moinuddin’s message of love, compassion, humanity and harmony has spread far and wide and provided spiritual nourishment to devotees from all backgrounds for centuries.

He said Sufi saints like Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz, Hazrat Baba Farid and Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia formed an immutable and eternal bond between the people of Pakistan and India.
The high commissioner expressed hope that the message and illustrious example of these Sufi saints would continue to serve as a guiding light in tackling present-day challenges and also help the two countries develop a relationship based on better mutual understanding.
According to the tradition, the Dargah Sharif's notables did the traditional dastaarbandi of Sohail Mahmood. The high commissioner thanked the Dargah Sharif administration and local authorities for facilitating his visit on the occasion.
