The victim, identified as Maqbool Ahmad, a resident of Miraj Park, was married to S*. Police said that their relationship had soured and the couple used to argue over petty issues.
On the night of the incident, when Ahmad returned home from work, he found his wife and her nephew, identified as Naveed, in the house. Upon seeing them, he got infuriated and a dispute ensued between them. His wife and her nephew overpowered Ahmad and stabbed him to death. As a result, he received serious injuries and died on the spot.
Neighbours informed the police about the murder. A police team reached the spot and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene. Police also took the woman into their custody.
This is not the first incident in the city in which a husband was murdered by wife over a domestic dispute.
In October 2018, a 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by her wife in Islampura. In January this year, a doctor was killed and dumped into a drain by suspects in connivance with his wife.
On Tuesday, a 30-year-old woman was killed by her husband in Mangamandi. The suspect, identified as Bashir Ahmad, was married to Yasmeen. On the day of the incident, they had a heated argument over a family dispute. Afterward, the suspect murdered the victim by using a sharp-edged weapon. He stabbed the victim in her throat with a knife. As a result, the victim received fatal injuries and died.
Police arrested the prime suspect and were investigating the matter further.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in Sundar. Police said that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Mocha, lured the boy and later forcefully assaulted him. The suspect dumped the victim in the nearby fields when his condition deteriorated and fled from the scene.
Some nearby people informed the police about the incident. Police said that the suspect was a resident of the village and claimed that he would be arrested soon. A few days back, a student of matriculation was stabbed to death after being sodomised by three suspects in Raiwind.
Also, the body of an unidentified 40-year-old man was found from Old Anarkali. Police said that the victim was a drug addict and died of an overdose. They claimed to have launched a search for his family and were investigating the matter further to ascertain the cause of his death.
On Tuesday, at least seven people died while 890 sustained injuries in 791 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours. As many as 499 seriously injured were shifted to various hospitals by the Rescue-1122 teams while some 391 with minor injuries were provided first aid on-the-spot.
The statistics showed that 347 drivers, 29 juvenile drivers, 410 passengers, and 140 pedestrians were among the victims of the accidents.
About 204 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 212 people, placing the provincial capital on the top of the list, followed by 68 accidents in Gujranwala with 66 victims and Faisalabad at third with 62 road accidents and 75 victims. As many as 618 motorcycles, 119 rickshaws, 82 cars, 48 vans, 28 trucks, and 78 other vehicles were involved in these accidents.
