Neighbours blame Pakistan without any evidence, laments Qureshi
Foreign minister says Modi govt using every forum to isolate Islamabad internationally
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday that the neighbouring countries level allegations against Pakistan without any evidence and before even carrying out investigations.
Addressing a ceremony in Multan, he said conspiracies are being hatched to isolate Pakistan internationally and the country will face more challenges in the time to come, Express News reported.
Qureshi said before the PTI-led government came into power, the country’s relations with its neighbours were not good.
He said the war had been going on in Afghanistan for the last 17 years but the country would blame Pakistan for its internal matters.
The minister said Iran has also accused banned outfit Jundullah -- now known as Jaish al Adl -- for carrying out terror attacks on its soil. Similarly, China also linked the Turkistan Islamic Party terror activities with Islamabad, he added.
Qureshi said Modi-led government was also using every international forum against Pakistan while the United States considered India as its strategic partner in the region.
International community has lauded PM Imran's desire for peace: Qureshi
Pakistan was put on the grey list of the FATF and allegations were levelled that the country was not fulfilling its obligations regarding check on terror financing, he added.
The minister recalled that the country was also facing economic crisis and mismanagement was rampant in almost all the departments with no structural reforms.
Today, he maintained that the improvement could be witnessed in both internal and external fronts and Pakistan's relations with other countries had improved.
The world had acknowledged the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan that there was not military solution to Afghan issue and a political settlement was the only way forward.
Now, talks between the US and the Taliban are in progress, he added.
Qureshi said peace and stability in Afghanistan was important for Pakistan, however, some elements wanted to damage the peace process.
