Naqvi crowned amateur scrabble champion

Ali Naqvi clinched the amateur’s title at the 23rd National Scrabble Championship after he outplayed Abdul Shakoor Haqani in the final held yesterday in Karachi.
Naqvi won six games with a total of 485 points followed by Haqani with 309. Athar Sharif secured third place with 260 points after ending victorious in four games. Meanwhile, Taha Sheikh won the under-25 championship with a total of 820 points from six games, finishing ahead of Bilal Shoaib, who won five games and accumulated 449.
The national championship featured 299 players this year with Rashid Khan clinching the master’s category in the first-leg of the tournament. He will now represent Pakistan in the Causeway Scrabble Challenge to be held in Malaysia later this year.
