Initially, service roads of the sector are being developed, while earthwork on the adjacent areas is also being carried out.
According to a statement issued on Friday, development of the sector started after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration took over possession of land in the sector.
Using its own resources, the Sector Development Directorate of CDA has started preliminary work on developing service road west of the sector. They are being assisted by the staff of the Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, Land Survey, Enforcement Directorate and other departments.
Officials expect that detailed tendering for the development of the sector will be carried out soon. Moreover, other issues which were causing hurdles in the development of the sector are also being sorted out.
Development of Sector E-12 is a long-standing issue. Land for the sector had been acquired in 1987 while plots had been allotted to the public, including federal employees, in 1989.
Ever since, the CDA has been unable to develop the sector owing to a host of issues, including non-cooperation of locals.
Over time, several attempts were made to secure possession of land in the sector but the efforts failed due to one reason or another.
However, earlier this month CDA decided to secure possession of the sector for its development. In this connection, CDA along with the ICT Administration and Islamabad Police vacated 2,000 kanals land from affectees and erected boundary pillars around it.
CDA further resolved to develop the sector by sorting out issues with mutual consultation and cooperation of other concerned departments.
