
Police have presumed that the small Buddha statue, a stone relief and an urn have been acquired illegally for sale to customers outside the country.
According to the Kot Najibullah SHO Abdul Jalil Khan had told the media that police were conducting search and strike operation in the area, when ladies police went inside a house they found old statues, utensils and other items.
The owner of the house was not available at the time of the search.
Police confiscated the items and informed the high-up related to the recovery, the SHO added.
Local sources told Daily Express that suspect Muhammad Salar Babu is associated with the business of the antiquities and has the contacts with international dealers.
“Babu has been associated with antiquities smuggling since long and police has registered a against him under Antiquities Act 2 K-P and soon he would be arrested,” SHO Jalil said.
