FIA nabs fake currency dealer

Team seize stamp papers, printing machines and other material

MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) nabbed a suspect, who was involved in making fake currency notes in Multan, Express News has learnt.

An FIA official said that on the directives of FIA Director Tariq Rustam, a team headed by Inspector Mumtaz Qureshi, raided a house on a tip-off and arrested accused Raees Ahmed.

He added the suspect was allegedly involved in making fake currency notes in his home. He maintained the raiding party also seized fake currency, travel cheques, stamp papers, two printing machines, chemical dyes, prize bonds and other material from the spot.

The official mentioned a number of cases had already been registered against the accused for making fake currency notes.



During interrogation, Raees transpired that he used to sell a copy of Rs7,500 prize bond in Rs70,000 and earned high profits.

Meanwhile, the FIA officials were investigating the case and more arrests and recoveries were expected.

Earlier, the FIA officials arrested four human smugglers during raids in different parts of South Punjab. A team, headed by Inspector Mumtaz Qureshi, conducted raids and nabbed accused Muhammad Umar, Allah Ditta, Khalid Hussain and Mushtaq.

The suspects used to extort money from the people by promising to send them abroad. The accused were arrested from Pakpattan, Harappa, Burewala and Sahiwal areas.

All the four culprits were booked in different cases and were absconders. The accused and had been evading arrest for a long time.
