WAZIRABAD: A man was gunned down while four others were injured over enmity in  Wazirabad on Friday.

Saddar police station officials told Express News that Nazeer Cheema, a resident of Moza Ismaeel Pur, had organised a wedding reception of her daughter at a marriage hall situated on GT Road.

The bride’s father had also invited Zafarullah and Zakaullah as guests in the function, who had an old rivalry with his brother Inam Elahi and his son Arsalan.

While the marriage function was under way, Zafarullah, Zakaullah and their accomplices had an argument with Inam and his son over a matter. However, after a heated debate, the accused took out weapons and opened indiscriminate fire, killing Arsalan on the spot and injuring four others, including Inam Elahi.

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene. The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Wazirabad for treatment.

Later, a heavy police contingent, headed by SP Farhan Khan, reached the spot and recorded statements of the eyewitnesses and victims.

Initial investigations revealed that accused Zafarullah and Zakaullah had enmity with Inam Elahi for the past 15 years that had claimed several lives.

It transpired Inam was released from jail one year ago for murdering his opponents. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and conducted raids to arrest the culprits.
