Punjab Assembly Leader of Opposition Hamza Shehbaz departed for London on Sunday and is expected to return to the country in 10 days.

The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader's departure comes weeks after the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him permission to travel abroad.

Hamza headed to London via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight. He had, through his counsel Advocate Azam Nazeer Tarar, informed the LHC of his travel plans prior to departure.

LHC allows Hamza Shahbaz to travel abroad

In November last year, Hamza was prevented from boarding an international flight. He was told his name had been added to the interior ministry’s blacklist due to an ongoing National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry.

In January, Hamza approached the LHC to strike his name off the Exit Control List (ECL).

He argued that the interior ministry placed his name on the blacklist without prior intimation and that he only found out about the travel ban when he tried departing for the United Kingdom in November.

Consequently, the court ordered the interior ministry to remove Hamza's name from the no-fly list and granted him permission to leave the country for 10 days.
