Temperatures plummet in Karachi as winds pick up

Severe weather conditions lead to suspension of power in several areas of the country

As a new westerly weather system continued to affect the country, temperatures in Karachi plummeted on Friday after the city received rainfall earlier, Express News reported.

Temperatures as low as -10C was recorded in Skardu, -5C in Malam Jabba and Kalam, -4C in Hazara, -3C in Chitral and -2C in Murree as rain and snowfall continued to batter different parts of the country.

The country's northern areas experienced heavy snowfall and some areas were blanketed by two to three feet of snow. In Punjab, the plains areas were shrouded in fog.

The severe weather conditions also led to the suspension of power in several areas of the country. A number of roads and their arteries remained blocked in the country's northern belt, causing inconvenience to commuters.
