Alleged rapist, murderer held in Khanewal
Culprit Sher Muhammad told police he smashed Faizan’s head with a brick after raping him to escape arrest

Police apprehended an alleged rapist who had murdered a 10-year-old boy in Khanewal’s Kabirwala Town, Express News reported on Wednesday.
Reportedly, Muhammad Faizan, a resident of Basti Chawan Wala, had gone to a local madrassah. However, when he did not return home, his family started searching for him.
Later, the victim’s body was recovered from the fields. The deceased’s family members immediately reported the matter to the police. A police team, including Khanewal DPO Rana Muhammad Masoom, Kabirwala DSP Meher Waseem Siyal and other officials reached the spot and gathered evidence from the crime scene.
During the course of the investigation, police took a suspect identified as Sher Muhammad into custody and shifted him to the police station. During interrogations, the accused confessed that he allegedly sexually assaulted the boy. He disclosed that he murdered the victim by smashing his head with a brick due to the fear of being caught.
Police said that the suspect was a hardened criminal and he had allegedly raped several children in the past. A case had been registered against the culprit.
Meanwhile, the family and relatives of the victim held a protest against the barbaric incident.
They blocked Multan-Jhang Road for vehicular traffic and demanded authorities award strict punishment to the accused. Later, Kabirwala DSP reached the spot and held negotiations with the protesters.
He assured them that the suspect will be awarded exemplary punishment. On his assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
In a similar incident that occurred a few days ago, a cleric from a local madrassah was arrested for allegedly subjecting an eight-year-old girl to sexual assault in Muzaffargarh.
Khangarh police said that S*, a resident of Moza Mubarak Pur, was enrolled at a madrassah situated in the area. The seminary was run by cleric Abdul Rehman.
On the day of the incident, the girl went to the madrassah but did not return home. The victim’s family started searching for her and reached the seminary. When they entered the premises they saw accused Abdul Rehman sexually assaulting the girl in an isolated spot adjacent to the seminary.
The enraged family members caught the culprit and beat him. Later, they handed him over to the police.
