QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Wednesday decided to appoint leader of opposition in provincial assembly Advocate Malik Sikandar as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

Talking to media in Balochistan Awami Party (BAP)’s central office, the chief minister said that the provincial government has accepted opposition’s request for PAC chairmanship as part of the democratic customs.

However, Kamal said: “If the opposition parties were not willing to appoint the opposition leader [Sikandar] as PAC chairman then we will seek consensus with our coalition partners”.

On safe return of the abducted neurosurgeon Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, the CM said the government was pleased with the development but the talk being circulated in the media that the family paid ransom is not correct.

“The provincial government had utilised all resources for the recovery of Dr Khalil,” he claimed.
