CHAKDARA: The army check post of Chakdara has been handed over to the police after 11 years.

The control of the check post remained with the army since 2009. In the ceremony concluding the handover of the check post, elders from the areas attended the handover occasion. Lt Colonel Muhammad Amir and DPO Arif Shehbaz Wazir said that the handover of the check post was a historical step indicating that militancy has subsided and peace and normalcy has returned to the region.

Lt Col Muhammad Amir of the Chakdara Battalion said that restoration of peace was the top priority of Pakistan Army which was not possible without public cooperation.

DPO Arif Shehbaz said that army’s role in the war against terrorism has been decisive and exemplary due to which terrorism has been eliminated and  the check posts has been handed back to the Dir police after 11 years.

Lt Col Muhammad Amir gave the documents of handover of the check post to the DPO Lower Dir Arif Shehbaz Wazir.
