In order to modernise National Highways and Motorways with digital technology a computerised transport and roads monitoring system consisting of about 100 LED screens has been installed at National Highway Authority (NHA) head office. The Members of NHA Executive Board led by NHA Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik visited Operations Centres located at NHA headquarters today.

These operations centres monitor toll plazas which are equipped with Electronic Toll and Traffic Management (ETTM) systems through high quality cameras and systems to ensure that commuters have necessary facilities. The digital system also ensures close monitoring of Operation and Management Contractors (OMCs) to keep all the lanes operational 24 hours a day.

Daily reports for lane closures are issued to ensure facilitation of road users.  Data collected from these modernised technologies is expected to help improve decision making, analytics and ultimately revenue enhancement.

On this occasion the NHA chairman said, steps are underway for the earliest completion of Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway. The project is utilising the latest digital system which includes handling emergencies, controlling traffic accidents and lane marking.
