A school van caught fire in Karachi's Korangi area resulting in a girl and the van driver being injured.

According to Korangi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ali Raza, the van caught fire due to a short circuit. "No lives were lost in the incident but the van driver and a schoolgirl suffered minor burns," he said.

The SSP informed The Express Tribune, that the van ran on petrol and did not have a gas cylinder installed. Residents and police officials rushed to the site to extinguish the fire. The children riding in the van were safe and were sent home.

In a similar incident in Karachi on January 5, a school van caught fire due to a short circuit. The children survived but many suffered mild burn injuries and five were more critically injured.

They were immediately taken to the hospital and discharged after treatment
