Hendricks stars as South Africa beat Pakistan in rain-affected third ODI

Hosts register 13-run win on DLS method to go 2-1 up in five-match series

Reeza Handricks brilliant knock was enough for South Africa to register seven-run win on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method against Pakistan in the rain-affected third ODI of the five-match series in Centurion on Friday.

The day started with the visitors captain Sarfraz Ahmed winning the toss and opting to bat first in perfect batting conditions.

His decisions proved a correct one as the Men in Green posted a competitive total of 317 for the loss of six wickets, courtesy brilliant century from opener Imamul Haq, who scored 101 off 116 balls with the help of eight fours.

He was well supported by Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez, who scored 69 and 52 off 72 and 45 balls respectively.

For South Africa, pacers Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada claimed two wickets each and gave away 43 and 57 runs respectively.

In reply, Proteas had a solid beginning as openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock scored 53 runs for the first wicket.

But the visitors fought back brilliantly and took back the initiative as the duo departed in the space of five overs as the home side was reduced to 79-2.

However, rain interrupted play for the first time and when the play resumed, hosts gained the momentum and made use of great batting conditions and reached to 187 for the loss of two wickets in 33 overs before the rain interrupted for the second time and the match was eventually called off.

Hendericks finished the innings with the top score of 83 not out off 90 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes.

For his outstanding batting performance, Hendericks was named player of the match.
